SMALL BUSINESS WORKSHOP: The Small Business Development Center at Marshall Community and Technical College offers a small business start up workshop from
9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, at 2000 7th Ave., Huntington.
The session addresses the major elements of starting a small business, including legal structure, licensing, taxation, insurance and record keeping.
Free tax assistance is
being offered through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) tax clinic
at Tri- C’s Eastern and Western Campus locations through April 7. The
Eastern Campus is located at 4250 Richmond Rd. in Highland Hills, and the
Western Campus is located at 11000 Pleasant Valley Rd. in Parma.
Participants must bring a photo ID, an original social security card for
everyone listed on the return, tax documents, and a copy of last year’s tax
return, if available. Drop-in hours are as follows:
MONROE — Volunteer tax aide counselors trained and certified by the IRS will provide one-on-one assistance helping older low- to moderate-income individuals complete their tax returns.
This includes tax forms 1040, 1040A, 1040 EZ, schedules A, B, C-EZ and D and the Wisconsin tax forms 1, 1A, W1-Z, and the Homestead Tax Credit Claim. Counselors can also determine whether or not individuals have a filing requirement or are eligible for earned income credit or any other credits that would be applicable.
