Thomson Tax & Accounting Awarded Patent for its ePropertyTax Software System

Thomson Tax & Accounting, a business segment of The Thomson Corporation , today announced that ePropertyTax, a product line within its Corporate Software & Services business, has been issued a U.S. patent for 43 claims covering its software system for managing multi-jurisdictional property tax information.

"We now have exclusive rights to an innovative process which has revolutionized the management of national property tax information."

The individual inventors of this process include Richard Nearhood, vice president, Property Tax, Corporate Software & Services, Thomson Tax & Accounting, and Scot Crismon, director, Technology, Corporate Software & Services, Thomson Tax & Accounting.

"The issuance of this patent recognizes the value of our unique system for processing multi-jurisdictional property tax information," said Nearhood. "This is a special accomplishment considering the rarity of patents awarded for software and workflow processes."

ePropertyTax was acquired by Thomson Tax & Accounting in November 2006.
