Workshops offer training for small-business owners
SMALL BUSINESS WORKSHOP: The Small Business Development Center at Marshall Community and Technical College offers a small business start up workshop from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, at 2000 7th Ave., Huntington.
The session addresses the major elements of starting a small business, including legal structure, licensing, taxation, insurance and record keeping. Registration is $25 and must be paid in advance to cover the cost of materials. To register, call (304) 696-6272 or go to www.sbdcwv.org and click on the training and workshop calendar. Seating is limited. The registration deadline for the workshop is noon Tuesday, Feb. 13.
WOMEN'S BUSINESS SYMPOSIUM: Morehead State University's East Kentucky Small Business Development Center sponsors the eighth annual Big Sandy Women's Business Symposium on Tuesday, Feb. 20, at the Wilkinson-Stumbo Convention Center in Prestonsburg, Ky.

SMALL BUSINESS TAX SEMINAR: The Small Business Development Center at Marshall Community and Technical College and Unlimited Future, Inc. sponsor a small business tax seminar from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, in the community room at the Huntington Mall.
The session addresses filing proper business taxes for 2006 and tips, deductions and changes for 2007.
