Tri-C Offers Free Tax Assistance at East and West Side Locations

Free tax assistance is being offered through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) tax clinic at Tri- C's Eastern and Western Campus locations through April 7. The Eastern Campus is located at 4250 Richmond Rd. in Highland Hills, and the Western Campus is located at 11000 Pleasant Valley Rd. in Parma. Participants must bring a photo ID, an original social security card for everyone listed on the return, tax documents, and a copy of last year's tax return, if available. Drop-in hours are as follows: Eastern Campus: Fridays and Saturdays, 12-3 p.m., Student Services Building, Room 2207D Western Campus: Friday and Saturdays, 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m., Student Services Building, Room 210 Volunteer faculty, community members and students who have received Internal Revenue Service certification in tax preparation will help with basic tax forms, including the following: --Form 1040 EZ -- Form 1040 A -- With Schedule 1, 2, 3 & EIC -- Form 1040 -- With schedule A, B, EIC & R -- Form 1040 -- V -- Form 1040 -- ES -- Form 2441 (Child and Dependent Care Credit) -- Form 8863 (Education Credits) -- Form 8812 (Additional Child Tax Credit) VITA particularly assists those with low and limited income, individuals with disabilities, non-English speaking persons and senior citizens. For assistance with complicated tax returns, taxpayers should see a paid preparer.
